Exons 4 and 5 are flanked by loxP sites, and a positive selection marker (Puromycin resistance) flanked by frt sites was inserted into intron 5, then subsequently removed via FLP-mediated recombination in the germline. Further Cre-mediated recombination in the germline resulted in the deletion of exons 4 and 5. (J:268644)
