The transgene contains a ~540 kb B1 repeat deletion subfragment of ~825 kb C57BL/6 YAC ICRFy902H125. The YAC contains the entire Gata3 gene plus upstream and downstream regulatory regions and was modified by inserting a lacZ beta-galactosidase reporter gene cassette immediately downstream of (in-frame with) the Gata3 ATG start site. The reporter gene is expressed in many but not all tissues that normally express Gata3 during embryonic development. (J:52950)
