The transgene contains the following elements: a neuron-specific enhancers-containing region 9-13 kb upstream of the Pomc gene transcription start site with enhancer Rr280 deleted but Rr279 still present, and the Pomc gene, including 0.8 kb of upstream and 8 kb of downstream sequence, with the tdTomato reporter gene and SV40 poly(A) signal sequences inserted upstream of the translation start site. The transgene is expressed in hypothalamic arcuate neurons during embryonic development. (J:176451)
