The transgene contains the following: the Pomc gene, including sequence 8 kb downstream of the transcription start site and 13 kb upstream, containing the promoter and neuron- (Rr279, Rr280) and pituitary-specific (Rr281) enhancers, with the EGFP reporter gene and SV40 poly(A) signal sequences inserted upstream of the translation start site. The transgene is expressed in pituitary melanotrophs and corticotrophs and in hypothalamic arcuate neurons during embryonic development. (J:97636)
