在α亚型（由上游173个CTG起始密码子而非经典的ATG密码子翻译）中，Leucine的1和6位（CTG）被Glycine的密码子GGA（p.L1G, p.L6G）替换。插入在内含子1中的loxP位点引导的Neomycin抗性基因座，通过后续的Cre介导重组被移除。 Western blot实验确认了这个等位基因在大脑中不表达α亚型肽，而经典的isoform表达不受影响。（来源：J:256248）
