The targeting construct introduced into the locus a neomycin resistance cassette and a series of 20 reporter genes interspersed with ten loxP sites in alternating orientation spaced 178 bp apart. The intervening nine DNA blocks are composed of unique sequences based on the AT2G21770 gene from Arabidopsis thaliana. Recombination produces a cell-specific barcode of reporter gene expression.
