This allele follows the meiotic cre-mediated recombination between the Pcdhbtm1Tyag and Pcdhgtm1.1Tyag alleles. The Pcdhbtm1Tyag allele has a loxP and FRT site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette inserted upstream of the first gene, Pcdhb1, in the cluster. The Pcdhgtm1.1Tyag allele has an IRES, a lacZ gene cassette and a loxP site inserted into the 3' UTR of the last shared exon, gammaCR3, of the cluster genes. Recombination between the two results in the complete deletion of the Pcdhb and Pcdhg clusters and the Slc25a2 and Taf7 genes located between Pcdhb and Pcdhg, as well as the inserted neo cassette lacZ gene.
