这个靶向载体被设计成在Scx编码区域的起始密码子(ATG)之后插入Cre，接着是一个终止密码子加上FRT标记的PGK-Neo cassette，这样可以替换Scx外显子1的大部分内容。通过与FLPe小鼠杂交，可以去掉Neo cassette(来源：J:274387)。
