Seven direct repeats of the tetracycline operator sequence drive the inducible expression of the human EGFR with the T790M mutation and deletion of exon 19 (del E746_A750). Mice with this transgene that express the tetracycline transactivator (tTA) or reverse transactivator (rtTA) under the control of a tissue-specific promoter can be induced to express the mutant gene in tissues or cell types of interest by administration/withdrawal of doxycycline.
