Pronuclei of fertilized oocytes were injected with a plasmid containing 7.6 kb of upstream sequence from the mouse whey acidic protein gene driving expression of a secreted form of human placental alkaline phosphatase lacking the membrane anchoring domain (SEAP, ClonTech), which serves as a promoter/enhancer reporter. Mice of founder line p1435 carry 60 tandem copies of the transgene. No expression is detected in mammary gland; high ectopic expression occurs in kidney, muscle, and lung. (J:82809)
