An 8.4-kb fragment of the mouse alpha-gustducin gene (GUS8.4 promoter) that drives taste receptor cell-specific expression was cloned 5 to the rat mutated G352P-alpha-gustducin cDNA. The mutation is a single glycine to proline substitution at position 352 near its C terminus (G352P). Three lines of mice (nos. 81, 82, and 89) were generated. Line 82 was chosen for further analysis because the pattern of alpha-gustducin expression matched or exceeded that of WT. (J:128673)
