The Venus YFP reporter gene was cloned into rat BAC CH230-36N4 or mouse BAC RP23-343C17, replacing the coding region of the rat or mouse glucagon gene (Gcg) from the start codon in exon 2 to the stop codon in exon 6. The final construct was injected into the pronuclei of fertilized (C57BL/6 x CBA)F1 eggs. The estimated copy number of this transgene ranges from 1 to 12.
