A loxP site was inserted into intron 3 and an FRT site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette and a second loxP site into intron 5. Exons 4 and 5 (and the neo cassette) were deleted through cre-mediated recombination, creating a knock-out allele. RT-PCR confirmed absence of transcription from this allele in spinal dorsal horns and dorsal root ganglia. (J:237768)
