A single loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 4 and a loxP-flanked neomycin selection cassette was inserted downstream of exon 5. Cre-mediated recombination resulted in the deletion of the loxP-flanked exons 4 and 5 as well as the neomycin selection cassette. RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that no detectable transcript was present in the small intestinal epithelium of homozygous mutant mice. (J:226582)
