使用了牛视紫质蛋白（RHO）启动子和带有核定位信号序列的Cre重组酶的向导，对C57BL/6 x SJL卵母细胞进行了核内注射。产生了九个转基因克隆。RT-PCR结果显示，表达仅限于视网膜，其他组织无阳性反应。这些小鼠与Rosa26R-lacZ报告型动物杂交，以评估Cre的活性和特异性，结果显示lacZ染色仅在视杆细胞中检测到（来源：J:205526）。
