Tg(Nr5a1/EGFP)1Klp

This transgene contains a 50-kb bacterial artificial chromosome- (BAC-) derived mouse genomic DNA fragment including ~45 kb of 5' flanking sequence from the mouse Nr5a1 gene, the noncoding first exon, the first intron, and 32 nucleotides of the second exon followed by the coding sequence for enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) and the 3' splicing and polyadenylation signals of the bovine growth hormone gene. The expressed protein comprises the first 5 amino acids of mouse NR5A1 and an alanine joined to EGFP at its initiating methionine. Fluorescent and immunohistochemical analysis for EGFP demonstrate transgene expression in steroidogenic cells of the adrenal cortex, testes and ovaries, in neurons of the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus, and in reticuloendothelial cells of the spleen; EGFP is not expressed in the anterior pituitary.
