This transgene contains a cDNA encoding the human cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) cloned into plasmid pUHD.10-3 between the PhCMV*-1 tetracycline-inducible promoter -- which is composed of a heptamer of the 19-base pair direct repeat tetracycline operator (tetO) followed by the human cytomegalovirus (CMV) immediate early (IE) minimal promoter, extending from nucleotide (nt) -53 to nt +75 -- and the SV40 polyadenylation signal.
