Exon 3 was replaced with one in which a nucleotide substitution produced the amino acid substitution of leucine for methionine at position 109 (M109L). The floxed neo cassette inserted downstream of exon 4 was removed by cre-mediated recombination. Western blot analysis on quadriceps muscle extracts confirmed the absence of protein expression.
