A construct was produced with the CAG promoter separated from the 3.5 kb lacZ gene by a loxP-flanked STOP signal. The lacZ sequence was fused to a nuclear localization signal. The 8.0 kb linearized fragment was injected into BDF1 zygotes to created transgenic mice. 3 founders (#'s 1,2, and 3) were generated having 5, 10, and 15 copies of the transgene, respectively.
