一个大约120kb大小的鼠细菌人工染色体(BAC)，包含了整个小鼠Kallikrein相关肽酶8(Klk8，又称Prss19或neuropsin)基因座，以及50kb的上游和70kb的下游序列，通过将人类优化的四环素响应型转录激活因子(tTA或htTA，即"Tet-Off")基因插入Prss19的起始密码子上游的第一个外显子，对这个BAC进行了改造。改造后的BAC被注入到了(C57BL/6;DBA)F2胚胎中。首批杂交后代（Founder mice）被繁育回C57BL/6J纯系小鼠，以建立名为Q的创始系（J:108340, J:151755）。
