A loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 2. An FRT-flanked neo cassette with a 3' loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 2. Flp-mediated recombination removed the neo cassette, and cre-mediated recombination removed exon 2. The absence of protein expression was confirmed by western blot analysis on muscle, lung, liver, spleen, kidney, tail, brain, heart, thymus, and bone marrow-derived macrophage extracts. (J:173213)
