Tg(Phox2b-cre)1Jke

A cre recombinase cassette was inserted into the ATG translation start codon of the Phox2b gene contained in a BAC clone by recombineering in bacteria. Correctly recombined clones were injected into C57BL/6J pronucei. Multiple lines were produced and crossed to R26R reporter animals to analyze recombination activity. A line selected for further analysis demonstrating recombination activity in the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus (DMV) in parasympathetic visceral and brachial motor neurons, with low activity/expression in the nucleus of the solitary tract and area postrema.
