A targeting vector containing an rtTA cassette and a floxed neo cassette was inserted at 32 bp upstream of the transcription start site, putting the transactivator protein under the control of the olfactory-specific endogenous promoter. Induction with doxycycline resulted in robust expression that was restricted to the olfactory mucosa and inducer-dependent. (J:157842)
