Ret基因的第一个外显子被靶向用于同源重组。一个编码可诱导的Cre/ERT2的序列，后面跟着一个由loxP序列标记的AC-Cre Tn5-neo自剪切 cassette，被定向插入Ret基因的第1外显子中。在剪除含floxed neo的 cassette后，产生了表达Cre/ERT2的敲入小鼠品系。这种可诱导Cre的时空表达模式再现了Ret基因的表达模式。（来源：J:157722）
