这种小鼠是通过增强子陷阱转基因技术产生的。研究者构建了长tk-cre:ERT2-SV40pA转基因，其中包含长型胸苷激酶的最小（TK）启动子，驱动cre-ERT2融合基因（由人雌激素受体配体结合域的G400V/M543A/L544A三重突变的cre重组酶连接）。SV40的polyadenylation序列紧跟在cre序列之后。这个转基因被注入C57BL/6J胚胎中。后代中的一条837品系在C57BL/6J背景上得到了纯化（J:150856）。
