该基因座的Exon 3被替换了抗氨苄青霉素抗性基因 cassette。对纯合肝提取物进行RT-PCR分析后，发现了一个剪接变异的、由Exon 2和Exon 4拼接而成的截短mRNA消息。由于Exon 3编码了结合位点，推测由该截短mRNA转录出的任何突变蛋白都将缺乏羧肽酶活性。这通过C3a和C5a补体蛋白末端Arg的缺失得到了证实(来源：J:148315)
