Exons 2 through 4 were floxed and a floxed neo cassette was inserted into the gene. Transient expression of cre in ES cells was used to remove exons 2 through 4 and the neo cassette. The absence of protein product was confirmed by western blot analysis on hypothalamus extracts. (J:136219)
