LoxP sites were inserted around exon 4 of the gene locus and a FRT-flanked neomycin resistance cassette was placed further downstream in intron 4. Chimeric mice were mated with Flp expressing transgenic mice to remove the neomycin cassette. Gene expression was unaffected as determined by immunoblot analysis of lymphoid tissue from homozygotes. Crossing this strain with a strain expressing Cre will lead to deletion of exon 4 and cause a frameshift mutation in the gene locus. (J:132877)
