使用含有Npy基因以及30kb上游序列和90kb下游序列的BAC（Bacterial Artificial Chromosome）来进行目标定位。在第一个外显子的ATG位点插入了cre表达元件，然后用修饰后的BAC产生了转基因动物。通过携带cre依赖性报告基因的病毒，确认了部分皮层神经元中cre表达的存在。（来源：J:68414）
