A construct containing the first exon, first intron, first 6 bases of the second exon of the human APOE gene, and the third intron followed by the APOE cDNA was placed downstream of the rat gamma neuronal enolase 2 promoter. Downstream of the cDNA was the noncoding region of the fourth exon and 112 bp of the 3'-flanking sequence of APOE containing the polyadenylation signal.
