LoxP sites were inserted on either side of the exon 3-5 region of the Sox17 gene. Mice homozygous for this allele are viable and fertile and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. When crossed with a Cre recombinase-expressing strain, this strain is useful in eliminating tissue-specific expression of the gene. (J:123050)
