A targeting vector was designed such that 700 bp of coding sequence in exon 2 including the start codon was replaced with a lacZ-neo cassette. Northern blot failed to detect any endogenous transcript in mutant lungs. LacZ expression was detected in a pattern similar to the endogenous protein expression. (J:97487)
