Transfecting ES cells containing a floxed 1alpha exon with mice expressing cre recombinase resulted in the excision of the exon, thereby ablating isoform 1A expression. RT-PCR of lung confirmed absence of transcript from the exon, while the 1C isoform remained unaffected. (J:101369)
