A sequence from exon 2 extending from the third to the seventh transmembrane segment was replaced with a floxed PGK-neo cassette. The receptor-binding pocket was deleted as well as the Asp at amino acid position 123, which is essential for ligand-receptor interaction. Deletion was confirmed by RT-PCR and Northern blot.
