A hygromycin resistance cassette flanked by loxP sites replaced exon 8 via homologous recombination. An additional loxP site was inserted between exons 6 and 7. Without cre recombinase exposure this allele was found by RT-PCR to produce appropriately aberrant transcript and western blot analysis failed to detect the protein in homozygotes. (J:99624)
