This phenotypic mutant was identified in an ENU mutagenesis screen. Complementation tests between heterozygous NMF244 and DLS/LeJ mice produced six affected mice in a total of 22 progeny, suggesting that NMF244 represents a new allele of dilute-lethal in this gene.
