Exon 2 was deleted via cre-mediated recombination, removing the metalloproteinase domain and, if normal splicing occurred, would result in a frame shift leading to a truncated protein containing only a pre-/pro-domain only. Northern blot using a probe containing exons 4-8 indicated the absence of transcript. Immunohistochemistry further demonstrated the absence of expression in null ovaries. (J:96781)
