The Camk2a promoter was adjoined to a sequence encoding a constitutively active cre recombinase fused with the C-terminal-truncated ligand-binding domain of the progesterone receptor. Cre activity was observed in the first weeks after birth in approximately 70 to 80% of CA1 neurons. (J:84481)
