The endogenous gene was disrupted by the insertion of the ROSA vector containing a beta-galactosidase/neo fusion protein into intron 1. While sequence analysis of RT-PCR products showed splicing between exon 1 and the ROSA cassette and did not detect transcript in which exon 1 was spliced to exon 2, transcript containing exons 2 and 3 (encompassing the entire coding region) was detected in some tissues, including testes and brain, but this latter transcript was not detected in eye, kidney, or cardiac muscle tissue.
