A lacZ gene was inserted in frame with the translation initiation codon of exon 2 and was followed by a floxed PGK-neomycin resistance gene and thus completely replacing exon 2. Chimeric mice were crossed with cre expressing transgenic mice leading to the excision of the floxed neomycin gene. Beta-galactosidase was expressed from this allele. (J:88168)
