在第6内含子的外显子7、8和9周围，有一个被floxed puromycin选择 cassette标记的区域，而在第9内含子中则有一个loxP位点。通过Northern和Western印迹分析，以及表型研究，我们发现这个基因的这一变异是部分功能缺失的。随后，通过将携带此突变基因的鼠与cre转基因鼠杂交，产生了Mdm2tm1.1Mep和Mdm2tm1.2Mep的后代。(引用文献：J:81065)
