Exon 5, encoding a portion of the second apple domain, was disrupted by the insertion of a neomycin selection cassette. Sequence analysis showed that a frameshift mutation would be generated if exon 4 were to splice to exon 6 due to the excision of the disrupted exon 5. Transcript was undetected in homozygous mutant mice via Northern blot and RT-PCR analyses of total hepatic RNA. (J:40270)
