A gene trap vector containing a 5' splice acceptor site and an in-frame Beta-geo cassette inserted into the gene after codon 632, resulting in the expression of a fusion protein of E-catenin and beta-galactosidase. Immunoblots of lysates from homozygous mutant mice showed an absence of full length alpha-catenin and reduced levels of E-cadherin and beta-catenin. (J:38208)
