A 6.1 kb region of this gene, which includes exons 6-11 and encodes transmembrane domains 3-6, was replaced with a PGK-neo cassette via homologous recombination. In situ hybridization of the vomeronasal organ (VNO) from homozygous mutant animals did not detect gene transcript. Immunohistochemical staining of vomeronasal neuron cell bodies from homozygous mutant animals did not detect protein product. (J:76339)
