Insertion of a neomycin resistance cassette disrupted the exon that encodes the first microtubule-binding repeat. This exon corresponds to exon 15 of the human MAP2 gene. Western analysis did not detect protein in brain of eight week old homozygous mutant mice. (J:71900)
