从突变体的cDNA和基因组DNA产物进行PCR扩增和测序后，发现17号外显子后紧接着的一个T到A转换，导致所有不同转录剪接形式的mRNA都缺失了这一外显子。每个检测到的转录异构体中，mRNA缺乏17号外显子导致了ORF3'区的框架移位，进而可能引入几个异常密码子和一个早停密码子。预测出的最大的异常mRNA异构体编码的蛋白质会在第559位被截短。(来源：J:84426)
