This phenotypic mutant was found to be allelic to ic by complementation testing. The mutation in the ic4J mouse was identified as 4 bp insertion at position 1815. This insertion results in a frame shift changing amino acids (606-627) and adds 21 amino acids to the carboxy end of the protein.
