This allele comprises a 75 kb deletion defined by a probe from the parotid secretory protein gene, Psp and located between 25 kb and 575 kb from the Psp coding sequences. The deletion does not extend as far as the closely linked Gdf5 locus. Homozygotes die prenatally and al/Ay mice also die prenatally, suggesting these alleles overlap at a site causing prenatal lethality. (J:9799)
