这个基因是位于17号染色体q臂上的一组化学因子基因之一。化学因子组成一个涉及免疫调节和炎症过程的分泌蛋白质超家族。该超家族根据成熟肽的N端半胱氨酸残基排列分为四个亚家族。这个化学因子是CC亚家族的一员,在静止的T淋巴细胞和单核细胞上显示趋化活性,对中性粒细胞活性较低,对激活的T淋巴细胞没有活性。该蛋白质还是多能造血祖细胞系集落形成的强力抑制剂。此外,这个基因的产物是趋化因子(C-C基序)受体1的强力激动剂。选择性剪接导致编码不同异型体的多种转录变异体。[RefSeq,2013年7月提供]
