丙酮酸脱氢酶(PDH)复合体是一种核编码线粒体多酶复合体,催化丙酮酸总体转化为乙酰辅酶A和CO2。它在糖酵解和三羧酸(TCA)循环之间提供主要联系,因此是负责调节葡萄糖代谢的主要酶之一。PDH的酶活性受到磷酸化/脱磷酸化循环的调节,磷酸化导致PDH失活。此基因编码的蛋白质是三种丙酮酸脱氢酶激酶之一,通过E1α亚单位的磷酸化抑制PDH复合体。此基因主要在心脏和骨骼肌中表达。已发现此基因的不同剪接转录变体,编码不同的异构体。[RefSeq,2010年3月提供]
